Description
Photograph of approximately 40 people at Pleasure / Merritt Park at Manzanar incarceration camp. They are arranged in small groups of three to six people. The Sierra Nevada can very faintly be seen in the background on the left side of the photograph. A stone obelisk with Japanese writing is on the left. The collection was donated by Ralph "Pete" Merritt, Jr. and Patricia Merritt. It is comprised of photographs from an album created by L. Josephine Hawes, the Chief Nurse at the Manzanar Hospital, and individual photographs collected by Ralph P. Merritt, the Project Director of the Manzanar War Relocation Center.
