"Architect Eugene Choy designed the extensive changes made in this structure at the northwest corner of 24th Street and Florin Road, which opened as the Grand Plaza Department Store on Thursday ... A special door was cut to connect Grand Plaza with the separately owned Jumbo supermarket, background ... The general manager of Grand Plaza is Jack Weiss. The store is owned by Lammot duPont Copeland, son of the president of the E. I. duPont Co. of Wilmington, Del., and himself a publisher of newspapers in the Los Angeles area"
