Description
Oval, glass-domed music box featuring a monkey dressed in formal 18th century costume. He plays a violin whose case lies on the ground near him, under an arch of dried flowers and branches, and china flowers. The music and monkey are activated with a string pulley on the side of the base. Made by Jean-Marie Phalibois in France. Phalibois create a whole line of automate machines in the late 19th century.
