Photograph caption dated October 1, 1956 reads, "Fred Harms, his wife and son, Michael, 3, center, East German refugees, find haven in North Hollywood home of Mr. and Mrs. Helmut Bandsze. Both families were brought to U.S. by St. Matthews Lutheran Church of North Hollywood. Bandszes arrived six months ago. From left are Gabriele Bandsze, 5, Mrs. Bandsze, Mrs. Harms, Michael Harms, Helmut Bandsze, Fred Harms, and Jimmy Simmons, 3, son of pastor, the Rev. John G. Simmons and Mrs. Simmons."
