Description
"Uganda railway temporary bridge". Wooden bridge spanning a valley. There is a train pulling six carriages across the bridge with Indian workers on the engine and in the carriages. There is a man standing at the side of the track on the bridge to the left of the image. There is a man suspended on the bridge to the lower foreground of the image. The Uganda Railway was built between 1896 and 1931
it extended from Mombasa, Kenya to Kampala, Uganda. It was built by the British Government using Sikh labourers brought over from India.
