Photograph article dated March 9, 1963 partially reads, "Leaving a highly profitable business in Buffalo, N.Y., the Irving Nissens came to Canoga Park to raise and train horses, the profession they knew best and loved more than any other. But the last few years have brought them lots of hard work and very little money. In fact, although Irv Nissen is recognized as an expert trainer, he has had to work for a painting contractor to keep the sprawling ranchette going. They prayed, oh, how they prayed, that their black Morgan mare would give them a handsome, healthy colt. A few weeks ago, Mrs. Nissen dreamed of the birth of a black and white colt whose distinctive markings would make the foal a valuable animal. The dream came true and their prayers were answered. Here then, making his public debut, is 12-day-old Rustem’s Dream, a rare Appaloosa beautifully marked with black chest and neck, a white saddle and rump with black spots, and the cutest face any colt could possibly possess."
