Description
Image of two men, one pointing a rifle, standing at the entrance of the San Fernando railroad tunnel, which was completed in 1876.
Card mount is cracked and damaged. "[Text obscured] Fernando tunnel, Southern Cal.," "Continent Stereoscopic Co.," and "Publishers, New [York]"--text, printed on front. "Millington" is handwritten on verso. Title devised by cataloger. Date supplied by cataloger from approximate date provided for same image with title: "215 The Great Fernando Tunnel, Southern C.," reproduced in The Continent Stereoscopic Company: Southern California in the 1870s (Los Angeles: Philip D. Nathanson, 2011), pages 26 and 44.
