Description
Johnston writes to the Governor from the Confederate army headquarters that "the Confederate flag bears such a resemblance to that of the United sates as to be readily mistaken for it" and that the Union army recently used a counterfeit of the Confederate flag as a "base and dishonourable trick." Johnston then suggests as a precaution that the company based in Virginia be "promptly furnished" with the flag of Virginia.
