Description
Alecia Beldegreen discusses her book, “The Bed.” She begins by discussing the history of the bed and how it began in Egypt. She explains that the bed has always reflected human believes and rituals. Beldegreen then describes the beds during Grecian times and explains that the Greeks used their beds not only to sleep in but also to eat in. She goes on to discuss bed folklore from around the world, including the story of “The Princess in the Pea” which she believes originated from Scandinavian folklore. Later in the interview she discusses the popularity of black satin sheets.
