“Miss Stevenson & her teachers.” Group portrait of the teaching staff from the school and out-schools of the Tumutumu mission. Miss Marion Stevenson ran the educational department and was principal of the Training College. The main school catered to four hundred pupils who were taught to read and write in the Kikuyu language. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the time that Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) spent at Tumutumu (1919-1921) and some of the early years at Chogoria.
