Shown in the summer of 1916 at Camp Hiram Johnson are Governor Hiram Johnson and Adjutant General of the California National Guard Charles W. Thomas. The facility, located on the grounds of the California State Fair at Upper Stockton and Brighton Avenue, was a temporary mustering and training spot for troops preparing for deployment to the US-Mexico border.
