Description
Supervisor Annette Rose of Sausalito represented the Third District on the Marin County Board of Supervisors for twelve years, from 1992 to 2004.
Prior to her election as supervisor, Rose served as councilmember and mayor of the City of Sausalito. She was also president of the Marin County Council of Mayors and Councilmembers in 1990. "I was drawn to public service because of my concern about affordable housing and environmental protection," she says. An arts administrator prior to entering public office, Rose was executive director of Antenna Theater, on the staff of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and owner of the Rose/Bernardi Gallery.
Throughout her tenure with the County of Marin, Supervisor Rose has been a strong advocate for the preservation of the Marin County Civic Center. She helped set the standards for the restoration of the Civic Centers gold spire and has worked closely with the Civic Center chapter of the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy. In September of 2003, Supervisor Rose organized a day-long Civic Center tour and exhibition for the National Conference of the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservancy who was meeting in San Francisco. At that conference, she received the "Wright Spirit Award" for her efforts to preserve the Marin County Civic Center. []
