Description
Pictured here are the twins of Long Beach gathered at the Long Beach Auditorium for a convention, entertainment, and refreshments arranged by the Public Recreation Department and the Press Telegram newspaper. Approximately 250 pairs registered at the event. "Long Beach has proved that it is the champion twin city of California, and... would be justified in claiming the national championship, when relative populations are taken into consideration," said Public Recreation Superintendent, Squire Du Ree. For several months, a signup drive was going on in Long Beach to disprove Santa Rosa's claim that it had a bigger proportionate twin population than any other city in California. DATE NOTES: Circa 1930's. ORIG. IMAGE: 4" x 9" sepia matte print. NEGATIVE: No. KEYWORDS: Mothers, women.
