Description
Photograph of a view of Kern Street in Tulare, ca.1905. Horse-drawn carriages are pictured making their way about the unpaved street which extends into the distance, lined to either side by commercial shops, many of which are two- to three-story Victorian-style brownstones. Utility poles line the left side of the street as well, where several groups of pedestrians can be seen grouping together. Legible signs from left to right include: "Thursday Nov. 14. Gentry Bros.", "Leader [...] Noble", "Fre[...] Beer", "Central Station Tulare Telephone Co.", "Druggists", "European [...] Rooms by the Day or Month", "Shayock & Weidman & Co. Furniture and Carpets. Linoleum, Rugs, Mattings. Dealers in New and Secondhand Furniture. Upholstering & Reparing.", "Cash for Poultry & Eggs. Agents for Los Angeles and Cyphers Incubators", "Poultry Supplies. Flour, Hay, Grain & Feedstuffs", and "Southern Pacific Company Low Rate Summer Excursion".
