Dating from slash fire of about 1922 at head of Little North Fork of Big River, Mendocino County, north boundary of Mendocino Woodlands, at gate to fire truck road from county road on w. side. Tip of top lost probably during logging. Trunk is black nearly to top. Extreme top is original branches. Rest of trunk "sap sprouts," now long. 6-2-40, E.F
