Description
This image was originally part of a California State Library photographic history project documenting the daily lives and historical, political, and cultural contributions of California's diverse communities. On June 12, 1999, Long Beach residents donated to the Long Beach Public Library 398 family and personal photographs as part of this ongoing statewide project. Shown here is Anaberta Lep", Miss Mexico in the Miss Universe pageant of 1953. She was third runner up to the title. She is related to the Garcias of Long Beach. She works today as an actress in Mexican soap operas. The donor states that the Miss Universe contestants "stayed at the Pacific Coast Club." DATE NOTES: Noted on image back. ORIG.
