In 1973, Huntington Beach entered into a Joint Powers Fire Agreement with other cities in Orange County to share communications functions and greatly enhance emergency services throughout the region. The Joint Powers Fire Training Station located in Huntington Beach, the subject of film, was dedicated in 1974. At the time, only Huntington Beach, Santa Ana and Garden Grove participated. Today, they are joined by Anaheim, Brea, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Newport Beach and the City of Orange servicing more than 1 million people over 200 square miles.
