Seventeen people were rescued early in the morning from a 45-foot sport fishing boat that ran into the rock breakwater in Long Beach Harbor. Four suffered minor injuries. The fishing vessel Vaquero struck the east end of the rock breakwater and began sinking about 3:30 a.m. Nearby boats took the 14 passengers and three crewmen to a barge, and a Coast Guard helicopter brought flotation bags to keep the Vaquero from sinking.
