Photograph caption dated June 4, 1958 reads, "Officials of Max Factor & Co. perform ground-breaking ceremonies to begin construction of the cosmetics firm's major Southern California manufacturing plant and warehousing facilities in Hawthorne. Shown breaking first ground are (l. to r. with shovels) Max Factor, president and Davis Factor, chairman of the board. Also taking part in the event are (extreme left) Albert Martin Jr., partner of Albert C. Martin and associates, architects, and Ernest W. Hahn, building contractor."
