Photograph of excavation work on a hillside, ca.1930. An excavating machine sits in the center with the words "Sharp and Fellows Contracting Co. Los Angeles, California No. 21" written on the right side. The same words are spread out over the back of the machine while a plate attached to the back reads "Northwest Engineering Co. Chicago Illinois". The machine is rectangular with smooth curves at the edges and a long scooping mechanism extending out of it on the right. Two trucks sit in front of the machine. The truck on the left is being loaded up my the excavating machine while the truck on the right is empty. In the background, mountains are visible below the excavation site.
