Photograph caption dated May 11, 1959 reads, "Mrs. Victoria Augustain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Arechiga, speaks to the Los Angeles City Council today as her daughters stand by at a hearing on the Chávez Ravine evictions. She brought petitions signed by 1122 persons protesting the evictions of families, including the Arechiga family."
