Photograph article dated April 26, 1962 partially reads, "Don't look now, but power mowers are big business. By popular demand, they have evolved from the two-cars-in-every-garage status symbol to the almost necessary commodity level, all but replacing the hand mower. The theory is that few people have lawns smaller than 500 square feet, which is a fair size chunk for manual lawn coppers. In fact, subdivision ordinances call for a minimum of 1,000 square feet of frontal space. If you're in the market for grass-cutting gear, here are a few practical factors to keep in mind, courtesy of Roy and Bob Yamade of Laurel Nursery, 6253 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood: If you decide on a power mower (and four out of five will), you may choose between two types, electric and gas engine. They vary in price from $49.95 to more than $200 for rotary-types and $79.95 to $350 for reel-types."
