Description
Black and white photograph printed onto a postcard showing pioneer missionary Mary Slessor in her later years, sitting on a wicker chair next to a Nigerian boy. The boy wears a smart suit of jacket and shorts, with a prominent shirt collar and bow tie. This image comes from a photograph collection kept by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Methodist Hospital run by the Methodist Missionary Society at Ama Achara, southeast Nigeria, from 1921 to 1 944.Photographic material on Mary Slessor was sent to Emily Godfrey by a Mrs McCullough.
