Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Los Angeles County Court House, 1903. It was built in 1888 and demolished in 1933, and was located on the south side of Temple between Broadway and Spring Street, on Poundcake Hill. The square clocktower topped with a dome rises above the 4-story sandstone building. Seven American flags are draped from the facade of the building. It is perched on a hill surrounded by a stone wall enclosed grass yard. Pedestrians ascend the long set of broad stairs between two large palm trees that lead up to the building. Horse-drawn carriages are parked in the street. Streetcar rails and electric lines criss-cross in the foreground. Other buildings are visible in the background.
