Photograph caption dated February 17, 1961 reads, "Pacoima's Johnny Smith, state middleweight boxing champion, keeps in condition loading furniture at manager Al Wise's Hollywood furniture store and this must explain why he knocks out so many opponents. He did it again last night when he tagged Ramon (Buffalo) Hernandez of Mexico in the first round at the Olympic Auditorium."
