Photograph caption dated July 18, 1941 reads, "Photo shows the 107 typists at Woodbury College who comprised the system locating the registrants’ names as quickly as the numbers were flashed from Washington. Standing in the center aisle are Capt. H.A. Strong, left, assistant to Lieut. Commander Maurice Sparling, right, Selective Service co-ordinator for Southern California. From this room the names were sent to The Evening Herald and Express and other newspapers.”
