Photograph caption dated December 2, 1927 reads, "Here is a view of the large crowd of the contestants' relatives, friends, classmates and other spectators at the battle of words between the best student orators of the city's high schools at the auditorium of Los Angeles high school. The competing students discussed extemporaneously various sub-topics of "Relations of the United States With Mexico," while school colors waved."
