Description
Public proclamation no. 21 issued by Major General H. C. Pratt, rescinding several prior proclamations, and portion of others. Proclamation announces that individuals of Japanese ancestry who are not under specific individual exclusion orders may obtain identification cards from the Western Defense Command indicating that they may travel to previously prohibited areas. The ACLU-Northern California case file records contain legal documents and correspondence pertaining to the case argued before the Supreme Court in Korematsu v. United States (1944), challenging the constitutionality of Executive Order 9066.
