1 image. Four level freeway interchange near Los Angeles Civic Center, 1 October 1952. 1. Upper level, Hollywood Freeway 3 miles completed, 10.1 miles to be total length, estimated total cost $55,000,000. Already carrying 105,000 per 24 hours on completed section -- with frequent traffic jams. 2. Second level, from top, Harbor Freeway eastern approach. Harbor Freeway runs to San Pedro, final length to be 22.8 miles, cost estimated, $24,000,000. 3. Third level, uncompleted length with Arroyo Seco Parkway, which connects Los Angeles -- Pasadena, was completed in 1940, when costs were low, for $10,000,000! 8 miles long. 4. Lowest level, exit from Harbor Freeway connecting with Hollywood Freeway. (Note: only 1/2 mile of Harbor Freeway now, October 1952, built).
