Description
A group of people, some dressed in stylish evening attire, at the Salt Lake Railroad yards in Los Angeles prior to departing for Fort MacArthur. The fort, named in honor of Lt. Gen. Arthur MacArthur, the father of General Douglas MacArthur, was commissioned as a U.S. Army fort in 1914. During the Great War, which was taking place at the time this image was taken, Fort MacArthur served as an army training center. Photo dated: March 24th, 1917.
