Photograph of a distant view of the Bass Ferry crossing the Colorado River, Grand Canyon, ca.1900-1930. Two mules or horses stand on the sandy embankment near where the small ferry is visible just off shore in the relatively calm water. The adjacent banks are steep and jagged with rocks. The canyon wall looms above and is dotted with trees and brush as it rises to the canyon rim at top.
