Phonevision is a small machine developed at the Zenith laboratories which unscrambles or ungarbles reception. The pay-as-you-see device consists of a few tubes which can be installed on home television sets and will cost approximately $10 for installation, and will not interfere with "free" shows. The charge will go on the monthly phone bill. Photograph caption dated March 13, 1950 reads, "How Pay-As-You-See Television Would Work - Image of Hugo Haas and Beverly Michaels in Movie, 'Pick-Up' Blurred Without 'Phonevision' (left), Clear After Payment (Right)."
