Description
Photograph of the exterior view of the Belasco Theater, ca.1910-1919. The facade of the theatre is symmetric. Above the balcony there's a light bulb advertisement sign that reads "Belasco Theatre" in large font. It's attached to the building with small metal beams and a clearly visible chain. On either side of the sign are two distinct windows, which have label moldings, and label stops. The building has a fire escape ladder that extends from the roof to the second floor. In front of the theatre, on the sidewalk, are two lamps with signs advertising what is showing tonight. Legible signs include: "339, The Elite Tailors", "Be[...]ard & Geyer Liquor Co.", "Alpine Plaster Co.", "Bradley's Theatre Express', "Thos. Storie electrical contractor", "Fred L. Bradley stage equipment", "W.A. Duncombe contractor and builder", "G.D. Taylor physician and surgeon", "On and Off", "Friends", "Belasco Theatre", "Belasco, Belasco Mayer and Co., proprietors, one week, Sept. 11, matinee Thursday and Saturday, The Belasco Theatre Stock Company presents the great laughing success 'On and Off', nothing but uproarious laughter from beginning to end, tonight", "brand", ..."[oy]ster company, fish, poultry, [...] last".
