Description
An information booklet about The Civil Liberties Act of 1988. It was signed into law on August 10, 1988 by President Reagan. According to this booklet, "The purposes of the Act are to acknowledge and apologize for the fundamental injustice of the evacuation, relocation, and internment, to make restitution, and to fund a public education program to prevent the recurrence of any similar event in the future." The booklet then goes through a series of questions and answers about the Act. Item from Misao Okada’s album. Misao Okada’s scrapbook contains photographs, ephemera, notes, and correspondence documenting her time at Amache and a visit and reunion over 50 years later. The scrapbook also includes materials relating to reparations and events observing Japanese American incarceration.
