In the background on the right, Ibigi Hill, separated by a steep river valley. "). Site of four bricked graves behind which Missionary Bachmann is standing. Palm leaves have been placed upon the graves. A tree in the foreground. An African on the left. In the background: coniferous trees and Ibigi Hill.
One photo included from the box of duplicates. -- Emil Karl Bachmann (1875-1940) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine after he had married Elisabeth Marie (1885-unknown), née Zenske in 1908. He served in Isoko from 1908 to 1910, in Rutenganio in 1910, in Mwaja from 1910 to 1912, and in Rungwe from 1912 to 1916 after which he was interned by the British for the following three years. From 1919 to 1921 he travelled around in the name of the mission. From 1927 to 1938 he was a missionary of the Berlin Mission in South Africa (Riversdale). He spent the last two years of his life in Germany.
