Description
Image of a four-page newspaper advertisement for the Walter L. Main Circus, with promotional text and images including a head-and-shoulders portrait of Main, ostriches, a scene from the three-ring Olympian hippodrome captioned "Remodeled and newest 3 ring circus, entirely new Olympian Hippodrome. Now the largest and finest," horse and pony races including "The world's greatest feature 'Canandaigua,' the riding pony," a fairy tale parade captioned "Childrens' dream of fairyland," and a daylight fireworks show.
Probable date approximated by cataloger based on similar text in newspaper advertisements. "Nashua / Thurs. June 23"--text, stamped in purple ink, bottom margin of PC1a. "Erie / Litho. Co."--text, artist's signature, bottom right of PC1c, in image of "Children's Dream of Fairyland".
