Description
A woman is standing in front of a yellow chair. She is wearing a vivid, high-collared dark red satin suit with gray fur edging. A back view of the suit appears in the upper right of the plate. The sleeves are snug with a slight fullness at the shoulders. The jacket reaches her waist and is open at the front. The gray fur edges the wrists and the front opening. Two curved bands of patterned beige circle the bodice with a line of dark blue five pointed stars on the bands. Under the jacket she wears a high collared cream blouse with a black band at the top of the collar, three narrow black bands like middy braid underneath coming to a v at the front, and a black band with a large oval ornamental buckle across the bust over a fall of cream lace. The skirt is flared with fullness at the back and is in two layers. The upper layer is formed into very large zigzags edged with black braid, creating a petal effect. The underskirt is plain dark red satin. She wears grey gloves, over which is a fall of cream lace at each wrist. Her hat is black with a wide band of gray fur, trimmed with black and white plumes.
