Description
Bob Hope was born Leslie Townes Hope in 1903 in Eltham, United Kingdom. He was best known as the king of American comedy and media. Hope attracted widespread notice for his role in the Broadway musical 'Roberta,' 'Ziegfeld Follies of 1936' and ‘Red, Hot and Blue.'; Norman McLeod was born on September 20, 1898. He was an American film director, cartoonist and writer. His directing credits include 'Monkey Business,' 'The Paleface,' 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,' and 'The Road to Rio.' He died on January 27, 1964.; Sam Snead, born Samuel Jackson Snead in 1912 in Ashwood, Virginia was a professional golfer. Using tree limbs as his 'clubs' when younger, he taught himself the game of golf. At age 7, he started as a caddie at The Homestead and by age 86 in 1998 he received the PGA TOUR’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the fourth recipient.; Ray Bolger was born Raymond Wallace Bulcao on January 10, 1904 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He was an actor, dancer, singer and comedian who started his career in vaudeville. He had roles in many films, including 'The Great Ziegfeld,' 'The Harvey Girls,' and 'Babes in Toyland.' He is best known for his role as the scarecrow in the 1939 film 'The Wizard of Oz.' In 1949 he won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a leading actor in the musical 'Where’s Charley?'
