Description
A chunk missing from the bottom of the Jabal al-Ṭārif cliff shows evidence of illegal excavation in Greco-Roman cemetery where the Nag Hammadi codices were found in a jar. It is believed that Gnostic monks hid the texts in the cave as a legacy for political or religious reasons.
