Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Mary Meade was born in Louisiana in 1923. She rose to fame in the 1940s and in 1949 married Ted Grouya in Paris and embarked on a European singing career. In 1953 she was selected as one of the best-dressed women by the New York Fashion Academy. She died in 2003. Photograph caption dated October 28, 1947 reads "Ben King, Hollywood makeup artist, will demonstrate makeup technique at the Hollywood Hairstylist Guild show to be held today at the Biltmore. Actress Mary Meade is the 'guinea pig' for King in this picture."
