Description
Air travel elegance over the years is shown in this comparison of coffee service on the Boeing 80A in 1930 (upper) and in the upper-deck Red Carpet Lounge of the Boeing 747 introduced by United Air Lines. The Boeing 80A, also known as the "Flying Pullman," had overhead reading lamps and rich wood paneling, but its entire cabin offered less space than the 747 lounge. The 1930 aircraft carried 14 passengers and 4,000 pounds of baggage and cargo. United's 747 accomodates 342 passengers and lifts 35,000 pounds of cargo.
