Description
The Painter Hotel, built in 1887 at the corner of Fair Oaks Avenue and Washington Boulevard, Pasadena.
Title transcribed from item. Built in 1887 and opened in 1888 by John H. Painter and sons, located on the northeast corner of Fair Oaks Avenue and Washington St., it was a distinguishing landmark of North Pasadena. Source: "History of Pasadena" by Hiram Alvin Reid (Pasadena History Company: 1895.) This hotel later became New Hotel Pasadena and the La Pintoresca Hotel; the building was destroyed by fire in 1912. After the death of John Painter (1891), the name was changed to La Pintoresca. (L.A. Public Library digital library)
