Description
Crowds gather around outside tables at the Playa de Ensenada hotel and casino on its opening day on Halloween. Left is one of the roulette tables; center is a Faro game and right, blackjack or twenty-one. Photo caption reads: "This photo of a typical gambling scene shows a faro game at the center table. Mrs. Blacklidge says "Roy Burgess" and "George Parker" invited her to play and told her they had a winning system. They offered to stake her and split her winnings. With a $50,000 check from Burgess, she says she played and won $207,000 "on paper" from "Roscoe Reynods," who demanded she show $50,000 to prove the good faith of the check. She borrowed $50,000 and lost it." Photo dated: Nov. 12, 1930.
