Description
Remains of dismantled Browning oil well #1 in Monterey Park, located on the southeast corner of Orange and Garvey Avenue. Owner of the well was L. H. Browning, doing business as Monterey Park Petroleum Corp. He also sold real estate, loans and insurance. A sign marks the locaion: "This is the Place." The real estate office remained for many years after the well was gone.
