Description
Photograph of a view of the church and cloister of Mission San Fernando, looking from the east end of the patio, ca.1898. The two-story building of the church is visible to the left, its spackle worn away and its walls pocked with small openings. The wooden roof appears to be supported by an elaborate system of wood scaffolding. To the far right, the long one-story building of the cloisters is shown. In between, a horse can be seen grazing in the clearing, several other adobe buildings visible behind it. In the foreground, a low wall snakes through the sedgegrass, possibly the remains of an earlier building.
