Description
Pomona College students in the KSPC (then KPCR) broadcasting studio. This photograph was used in a May 1953 newsletter with the following caption: "Pomona College has its own radio station run by the students with only limited supervision by two faculty members. KPCR operates on a carrier frequency of 760 kilocycles, using a closet off the Edmunds Union ballroom for tis transmitter and a tiny office off th elounge for their studio. Nine students make up the technical staff, though many more work on programming. The station carries little further than the campus and broadcasts consist of classical music (preferred by 62% of the students recently polled), news, jazz, drama, and trasncriptions from the British Broadcasting Company and the French Broadcasting System, which were sent for KPCR's use without charge. Shown in the picture are, left to right: Josephine Feagley, Larry McGilvery, Leonard Lupo, technical director, and Lockie Haight, station manager".
