Photograph of the painting "The Annunciation" by Hacker depicting the virgin Mary backed by an angel, [s.d.]. The virgin Mary is pictured standing at center, and appears to be young and still very much a girl. She is draped in diaphanous white cloth from head to ankles, while the face of an angel appears next to her deeply shadowed face. The rest of the angel is only barely apparent, becoming more and more translucent as it extends away from the head. The background itself is ambiguous mixed with flower and dark, hanging lines, it simultaneously appears to be a garden and a swamp.
