Description
The Marin land developer recounts events in his personal and professional lives. Leach recalls his career initiation in a summertime job as a young rent collector in San Francisco. He describes his brave actions after surviving the 1906 earthquake at the age of 19, and his exodus to the North Bay after four days in the devastated city. Leach shares his memories about building the first house for his family in San Anselmo and his down-to-earth approach to making a living selling real estate and developing affordable homes in Marin. From 1974 to 1984, Carla Ehat, with partner Anne Kent, and later Genevieve Martinelli, interviewed a broad spectrum of Marin County's long-time residents, from ranchers to politicians, including descendants of early pioneer families. This program was co-sponsored by the Marin County Free Library and the Moya Library in Ross. The resulting archive, consisting of nearly 300 recordings and their corresponding transcriptions, are housed in the Anne T. Kent California Room at the Civic Center branch of the Marin County Free Library.
