Text to side of photo: "St. Ann's Building, Powell and Eddy Street. California Savings Bank up the steps. Louvre Beer Hall & Restaurant in the basement 1884. In this basement restaurant one could get a high class meal cooked to order or a-la-carte priced very reasonable. The bill of fare contained most every kind of meat, fish and fowl as well as game and fruits in season. This place was largely supported by out of town visitors." View of St. Ann's Building, northwest corner Powell and Eddy. Elaborate building with corner tower. T.M. Ansell & Co. piano and organ store on ground floor. California Savings Bank at corner.
