Photograph caption dated September 26, 1960 reads, "Prepare For Disaster - '60 -- St. Joseph Hospital and Burbank city officials check facilities and plans for "Disaster--'60," a Civil Defense exercise set for Oct. 15. From left, Dr. Charles Sonneman, disaster medical staff coordinator; Fire Capt. Austin Wilkinson; Fire Inspector Harold Lawson; Mrs. Melba Rardin, director of hospital nursing service; Benjamin M. Watson, Burbank Civil Defense director. More than 100 "casualties" are to be treated at the hospital during exercise."
